Dr Mervyn John Cross OAM, MBBS (Syd), MD (UNSW), FRACS – Deputy Chairman
Dr Cross was responsible for the establishment of the Institute in 1985, and has been a member of the Board of Management since the Institute was incorporated on 14 February 1985. Dr Cross is the senior orthopaedic surgeon at the North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre at Crows Nest, and a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, the Australian College of Sports Physicians, the Australian Sports Medicine Federation and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He was Director of Orthopaedics for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

Dr Gregory Roger MBBS, MEng (Res)
Dr Roger has been a member of the Board of Management since 19 July 2000. Dr Roger is the managing director of Australian Surgical Design & Manufacture Pty Limited, a leading Australian manufacturer and exporter of orthopaedic medical implants.

Prof Lynette Margaret March MBBS, MSc, PhD, FRACP, FAFPHM
Prof March has been a member of the Board of Management since 27 January 1999. Prof March holds a conjoint appointment with Northern Sydney Health as a Senior Staff Specialist in Rheumatology and Clinical Epidemiology and with the University of Sydney as an Associate Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Public Health.

Mr David Shaw Gordon
Mr Gordon has been a member of the Board of Management since 9 December 1997. Mr Gordon is a consulting and business development manager at CDCV Management Consulting.

Mr William Beach Thomas BA LLM – Chairman
Mr Thomas has been a member of the Board of Management since the Institute was incorporated on 14 February 1985. Mr Thomas is the principal of the legal firm of Thomas and Company, and has been a solicitor in private practice since 1968. He is an accredited specialist in business law, a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia, and a Notary Public.

Dr William Keith Walter MBBS, FRCS (Edin), FRACS (Orth)
Dr Walter has been a member of the Board of Management since 30 September 2002. Dr Walter is the senior orthopaedic surgeon at the Sydney Northside Hip & Knee Surgeons at Waverton, a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, Chairman of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Mater Private Hospital, and Chairman of the Medical Executive at the Mater Private Hospital.
